Diagnosed with 3/4 of the following:
- thin, watery, grey discharge
- pH >4.5
- fishy odor with 10% KOH (releases amines)
- vaginal epithelial cells coated with bacilli (clue cells)
- history
- physical exam
- lab investigations
- diagnostic imaging

Pathophysiology

Treatments
Metronidazole or clindamycin can be given orally or vaginally; ampicillin now less recomended
Vaginal douche with 1.5% hydrogen peroxide

Consequences and Course
All treatments have a recurrence rate of ~20%.
