Students will be expected to explain the pathophysiology, diagnosis, treatment and course of the following:

 

Red Blood Cell Disorders sickle cell anemia

Platelet and Clotting Disorders deep vein thrombosis hemophilia A & B

White Blood Cell Disorders chronic myeloid leukemia (CML)

Other blood loss

 

 

 

 

 

Treatments

Students should be able to explain the indications, contraindications, and adverse effects of:

• blood/blood product transfusion
