Imbalance of muscles around foot and ankle leads to a foot with a high arch and cocked up toes, especially during development
typically occurs with inherited polyneuropathies (ie Charcot-Marie Tooth disease), as adult-onset conditions don't cause foot deformations
can also occur with polio, or in the absence of neurological disorders
