Antacids

 

 

 

  • acid reflux
  • blocks H2 receptor, decreasing [cAMP] and acid production

 

Proton Pump Inhibitors

Can be directly antimicrobial to treat H pylori. Tag with an antibiotic such as clathromycin and amoxicillin/metronidazole.

 

  • omeprazole
  • pantoprazole
  • esomeprazole
  • lansoprazole
  • rabeprazole

Mechanism of action

Irreversibly bind to the H/K ATPase, preventing HCl secretion.

 

Omeprazole can take up to four days.
