Introduction

Cell culture can be very helpful for in vitro testing.

 

Primary cell cultures are taken directly from animals. Commonly-used lines include:

Diploid cell culture is derived from fetal tissue fibroblasts. These cell lines have a limited lifespan.

 

Heteroploid cell lines are derived from neoplastic or transformed cells. These can be grown for many generations.
