Circumcision

 

Circumision is normally an elective procedure done for social or religious reasons. It is not recommended for routine practice by the American Association of Pediatrics or the Canadian Pediatric Society..

 

 

Medical Benefits

Prevention of phimosis, with a slightly reduced risk of UTI, balanitis, penile cancer. There is controversial evidence of HIV transmission reduction.

 

Complications

Complications are rare, but include infection, bleeding, or urethral injury
