Students

Dear ,

My name is xyz and I am the Recruitment Assistant at Sharing in Health (SiH), an organization that seeks to develop more effective and accessible training tools for primary care education in low-resource countries. Currently, we are focusing on learning resources that cover the essentials of primary care, including maternal care, pediatrics, infectious diseases and more. I found your contact information through HIFA2015 and based on your profile, I suspect that you would be a good fit for involvement in our initiatives.

Below is a basic rundown of what SiH is about:

The Problem and Our Solution

The world faces a severe shortage of health care providers, estimated at greater than 3.5 million workers world wide. In low resource countries where health care workers are most scarce, the consequences of this shortage are frequently experienced, and commonly include untreated or improperly treated illnesses, and preventable deaths. SiH exists to address this shortage by making health care education more accessible in low-resource countries. Our goal is to increase training capacity at learning and health care institutions, by producing and providing more training resources and helping lower costs.

How SiH Works: Our Team

Our materials are collected through collaborative authoring and reviewed by contributors around the world. Medical and health care students are invited to contribute as authors, by writing articles regarding important health care topics; professors, clinicians, doctors and other health care professionals help by reviewing these topics to ensure accuracy and credibility.

Specifically, I am interested to know if you would consider being involved with SiH as an author. As you contemplate this proposal, I recommend you visit our website - www.SharinginHealth.ca. Information about authoring can be found under the heading "How You Can Help".

You may also email me directly at xyz@sharinginhealth.ca. I welcome any help or feedback you'd be willing to provide us with and hope that our activities are of an encouragement to you.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Dear ______,

We are working hard to provide free educational resources to health care students globally who otherwise lack access, and it is through the efforts of students like you that we will help meet this critical gap.

We are looking for students to act as volunteer authors for important topics. Authors benefit by learning the material themselves, building their CV, and knowing they are helping others. We recognize all contributors at this page: www.sharinginhealth.ca/contributors/contributors.html

We would be delighted if you would consider supporting us in two ways:

  • 1) author a topic yourself! It's fun! Available topics are online here www.sharinginhealth.ca/projects/top_100.html
  • 2) share our message with your colleagues! If you are willing, we'd be delighted to provide you with a draft email and/or poster materials to distribute amongst medical students in your country. Then things can really start to take off.

We've had contributors from around the world already, and really want to make sure our work is as globally relevant as possible. Please help us in our mission to truly make medical education available for everyone!

Yours sincerely,
